My Day In Clermont, FL

I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Orlando area and struck ‘gold’ when I discovered the charming town of Clermont only 22 miles away. This quaint, mainly residential town is surrounded by peaceful farmlands and hills and located on the edge of Lake Minneola is Waterfront Park with a bike and jogging path, picnic areas, a swimming area and playgrounds.

At the downtown Historic Village you can view the inside of two 19th Century, authentic homes and the former Depot Building has been renovated into a meeting house for up to 40 people. Scattered around the town are numerous cafés and restaurants with a great choice of all types of foods and entertainment.

Taking a ride south on US Highway 27, I discovered a real jewel, The Presidents Hall of Fame. This amazing museum has a collection of details and information on the 44 US presidents and their wives. Not only is there a replica of Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty and the Lincoln Memorial, but there is a scale model of the White House complete with exquisitely furnished rooms. I even had my photo taken sitting at a copy of the president’s desk. This small, friendly town is certainly full of surprises.
